There are three different types of sound in moving image they are: Dialogue, sound effects and music. Each of these sounds play a crucial part in moving image. The role of sound in a moving image is that it gives it emotion and creates an atmosphere and the image give information to what is going on, they assist the moving image to build it more.

For each of these types of moving image I have added a visual clip to talk about.
Film-
The clip I chose for film was an extract from 22 jump street. At the beginning of the clip shmidt is pulling on the kevlar, you can see and hear him pulling at the velcro strap, this is making the audience feel curious as to why he is doing it and then the camera jumps to face the captain who is holding a gun and you hear it hit the table with the velcro noise is the background to the audience this will be funny because you find out the reason why shmidt is wearing the kevlar.
As the clip continues the captain turns a picture around and Jenko looks from the picture to shmidt and an egg timer noise is playing in the background and as it dings a jenko realises what all the tension is about, which is also funny for the audience because of the ddd timer noise and jenko starts singing in a childish way. for this clip the audio as well as the moving image are important because this is where a lot of tension and comical emotions are at the same time because the audience will find it funny and full of tension because of what has happened.
TV-
This is a clip from a tv show called Empire and it shows a point of view shot and there is a soft song playing in the background the camera then turns to the character and then back to a point of view shot were the other main characters are talking to him and welcoming jamal home and then you see the singer come into view, this scene is showing a loving family celebrating the arrival of another family member, the emotion that the audience feels from this scene is happiness and love. this is from the music and the way the other characters show emotion towards this character. the audio and moving image go well together because it shows the loving family without a worry now they have someone back home. it is also a step out of reality because they are just focusing on family and not the worry they have to deal with.

The clips is from Todrick halls youtube film straight outta oz. The clip is a mix of dialog and music. The location for this is biased in an office and as the two enter an office you hear the elevator ding and doors open then slow foot steps which are dietetic sounds .The video is about todrick talking to a woman about helping him become a famous singer and she is trying to seduce him in order for him to become famous but she doesn't know he's gay. There are alternate views from this clips the red side is nicoles version of what she thinks is happening because she is trying to seduce todrick were as todrick view is still in the office.The lyrics in this video are like a conversation and from the clips the audience can tell that todrick is confused on what he should do. the whole mood for this is all from the non diegetic music in the background and the dialog is showing the push and pull type of conversation they are having. for the audience is it building tension because they don't know what he is going to choose and at the end the clips moves to the next and you don't know what happens which leaves the audience in suspense and curious. The way it is set out matches the audio because it gives a side from each person as to what is going on in there heads and gives an insight as to what he had been through when he first moved to LA.

The music video I chose to talk about is what is love by V Bozeman. The music video is simple but the audio creates a intense atmosphere. The music in the background is a non-diegtic upbeat song and the vocals are diegetic. Even though the music is upbeat the lyrics are sad and they relate to the audience because the lyrics are about heart break. The audience may listen to this song and feel different emotions because of the contrast within the song, so they may feel sad due to the lyrics or they may feel a different emotion because of the beat of the music. The music video fits well with the audio because it shows the emotion on the artists face.
Amination-
For animation I chose Looney Tumes because the moving image relies on sound effects, dialogue and music. The short clip is a tweety bird singing and the cat next door trying to get him to eat him but the bird gets away. The audio for this is a mix of dialogue and sound effects. an example of the layered sound effects are when sylvester the cat is writing a note there is fast music in the background and the ink pen he is using has a scribbling sound effect. another example is when sylvester opens the door and slides a note under the tweety birds door. Sylvester’s foot steps have a loud, hard music were as tweety’s have a light soft music showing the contract in characters.
